Stacks and Chimneys are used to exhaust corrosive gases into the atmosphere. FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) has emerged as the product of choice for chimney liners and stacks for low cost and critical performance. The corrosion resistant resins used as the backbone of these structures are generally the same as the corrosion resistant resins used in the duct and scrubber sections upstream to the stack or chimney. Stacks and chimney liners can be efficiently designed as free standing, or with the benefit of support columns, made from steel or concrete.
The design of chimneys and stacks is generally subject to ASTM D 5364 and often subject to visual acceptance criteria outlined in ASME RTP-1. We are one of the few FRP manufacturers that has the experience and capability to design and build FRP Stacks and Chimney liners. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is one of the critical tools used to make certain that the loads encountered will be accommodated by design.
